This walk departs from the Greymouth Railway
Station at 1pm each day. Pre-booking is
essential to guarantee that a guide will be
available. Begin by walking from the Railway
Station to the foot of the King Domain track.
Here you begin a rather steep zig-zagging
climb up the King Domain hillside and quarry,
being one side of the range that forms the gap
separating Greymouth from the Grey Valley.
Enjoy excellent panoramic views of Greymouth,
Cobden, the Grey Valley and the Tasman Sea.
Total time 150 minutes including the return to
the Railway Station.
The climb up the King Domain is a moderate
length but steep you will be walking for about
90 minutes with stories and commentary to
break the strain. You will need good
walking shoes and can expect muddy patches at
some points. There are some twists and turns
where the track is over-run with tree roots
which with the gradient mean a reasonable
level of fitness and agility is required.
Be aware that as we climb the temperature can
drop and rain can arrive quite quickly. Please
dress appropriately for the expected
conditions.
All tours include commentary and stories by
professional storytellers.
Cost $30.00
